Hi Jessica,
It's really hard to describe everything but to give you a general sense. Pediatricians can either work in the inpatient (seeing kids in the hospital) or outpatient setting or a mixture of both. They can be general pediatricians or specialize in certain areas such as Cardiology. As a pediatrician, your goal is to work together with parents and patients to help keep the kids healthy and diagnose and treat illnesses. As a general pediatrician, I see kids with ages ranging from newborns up until 18 and do check-ups or sick visits.

There is a really great YouTube channel called Pre-Health Virtual Shadowing where a physician talks about a day in their life, their education, and various other topics. Recently, a physician in pediatric emergency medicine made an appearance and it was incredible educational. I would definitely recommend you check out their channel if you’re interested in pediatrics or medicine in general.
