Sean’s Answer

Yes! In the operating room you can be secured to the operating table in a number of ways to protect you during surgery and to minimize the risk of you, or part of you, from falling off of the table. Some operations require the bed position to change during surgery (head up, head down, rotate left or right, and many other possibilities). In addition to being secured to the table, your pressure points are padded to help limit being sore after surgery and to help reduce the risk of nerve injury.

Estelle’s Answer

Often, a "safety strap" is placed over the patient's waist like a seat belt to prevent them from rolling off the table if it needs to be tilted during the procedure.
