One has to pass multiple level of exams(after completing 12th) and complete Articleship in order to become a Chartered Accountant. You can find details at http://www.edzonex.com/curriculum-details/about-ca/steps-to-become-a-ca .

Hi....
Below are the steps for becoming CA.
1. register for CA with the CA institute and give you CPT entrance exams after your completion of 10+2. Alternatively, join directly into IPCC after completion of Commerce degree in UG.
2. After CPT, register for the IPCC exam and give the exams
3. 3 years of articleship to be pursued with a CA firm
4.Pursue CA final exam


Since you are interested in Accountancy, CA is not the only option. You can also pursue B.Com for Under graduation. And also other Professional courses like Cost and Management Accounts, Company Secretary or MBA (Finance).
