Bruce’s Answer

Hi Jonathan - Some of my friends in high school took more of the advanced placement (AP) classes than I did, and sometimes I felt bad that I wasn't as smart even though I did fairly well in school.

At some point I decided that it's ok that they are taking harder classes than me as long as I was doing my best and trying my hardest on homework and tests. If I ever got a bad grade, I would try to be honest to myself about whether I did my best or maybe didn't in some way.

There are many ways to improve at school: Care about school, do homework first before fun things, prepare for tests till you understand it, have a clean desk area with good pens/pencils/paper/light/chair, ask for help when you need it, sit up straight, get good night's sleep, eat well.

Using this web site will help you. Good job finding it and using it.

I know you've heard most of this before, but I think it helps, and I want to help you do your best and succeed in any ways you want.

Good luck!

Dr. Sudeep’s Answer

When I was in school, I felt the smart student at school was the one who scored high marks for the examinations. However, the smartest student at school was the one who was the one who would score high marks for the examination and also do well in sports and extra-curricula activities. When I get older, I realised the smartest person in school was actually the person who succeeded in his life and has a happy family.

What I loved about my school was the opportunity to meet others of amazing diverse backgrounds, faith, creed, economic backgrounds and values. If not for my school that gave me this opportunity to know so many personalities, I would not be a person of the world.

What I've learned over the years is it is important to know your subject/area of focus, however having the ability to work with others, listen and work together as a team will make you truly successful. Its also a lot more fun to learn from each other.
