Yes, you will need a Laptop in med school. My son has used one all throughout pre-med (Austin College in TX) and he's gone through 2 Laptops since then and he's now 4th year med student at TX A&M HSC. You will use the Laptop much for flashcards, scheduling time, online tutorials, and more.
