Most actuaries are employed by insurance companies, consulting firms specializing in serving insurers, government or universities. There are some non-traditional actuarial roles (for example the energy sector). Visit beanactuary.org for more information on the profession.

Depends on your interest. Both are good options. I would prefer investment firm but other one is a good option too.
