The most common prescription I wrote as a pediatrician was nothing!. It was also the second, third and fourth most common prescription.
Most physician visits, especially to the pediatrician, do not generate a prescription. I do prescribe common sense alot.
But after these practical thoughts, Amoxicillin is the winner.

As a gynecologist, the most common things I prescribe are birth control options. Second is probable antibiotics for infections.
