It depends on the jurisdiction and state you apply to. Generally, the more expensive it is to live in that area, the better compensated you'll be. Think of it as a "cost of living" adjustment. Ultimately, wherever you work, you'll probably be making enough to live comfortably (not necessarily lavishly, but comfortably), so that you can focus more deeply on the task at hand, rather than worry about finances.

Depends on what state, city, etc. you can check city web pages, as there is normally a section for police recruitment that will list starting salaries. Hope this helps
