Hello Renece! There is certainly a lot to keep track of in college! I have two pieces of advice. The first is time management. Make sure you stay organized about what you need to get done, so you can plan time to complete your homework and studies without sacrificing social events. An online calendar is a great tool for this, and is how I kept everything straight when I was in college. The next advice I have is to get out there. Networking, making friends, and meeting people with different perspectives are some of the most valuable parts of college. Don't let yourself be bored in your dorm room! There's always something going on on a college campus; get in touch with clubs and organizations and don't be afraid to try new things even if you have no experience in them. If there isn't a club that interests you, consider starting your own! I did this, and it was easily one of the most memorable and rewarding parts of college for me, and it helped me meet and grow close to so many people. I hope you have a memorable college experience!

Hi Renece B. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.

For sure, time management is a great way to ensure that your college experience is memorable. As mentioned in the previous advice provided, there are countless ways to use that well-managed time that allows you to explore and experience campus life. In my case, I also took the opportunity to explore the city where my university resided.

I will also add that I was a pretty serious engineering student. Still, I found a way to engage in clubs, activities and social events. I mention this mostly to demonstrate that there are ways to enjoy campus life AND study hard. There are some instances where faculty and staff become so much of a part of your curriculum that you get to build professional and collegiate relationships that can provide the support that many students (particularly freshmen) can find invaluable.

One exercise I practiced as a way to enjoy campus life...when I did well on an assignment or test or project, I would go celebrate by taking in a free concert on campus like a student musical group. These cool findings can provide much needed levity and create a space to enjoy and respect campus life.

Best of luck to you!
