What does it take to be a detective and is it difficult throughout the cases?
I never focused on being a detective. Although I never thought about it, I find being a detective interesting. I believe learning to be a detective would be an interesting mission.

Being an investigator is a very rewarding job-- it's all about problem-solving. The problems you will solve, however have more to do with PEOPLE than they do with fingerprints and DNA. There are scientists who solve those problems. As an investigator, you will be focusing on what motivates people, what relationships do they have, and how will they fit into your fact pattern as witnesses or suspects.
It's challenging. But if people interest you, and you have a strong sense of right and wrong and don't mind working hard to figure things out, you'll love being an investigator.
You don't need to be a genius-- you need to be PERSISTENT, stay organized, be a good listener, ask the right questions, and not give up.

Cristoval, is there any way that you can tell us where you are from? Some of the answers you get, can depend on where you live. In most places, you have to be a police officer first. As a private investigator, you wouldn’t have to, but most of them were.
Have you seen that show, that advertises, are you an ID addict? Become one! Investigation Discovery channel. Every time, I watch one of those shows, I practice. I was taught to do this and it works. Some of those, I have been in on the investigation. Start asking yourself, what you like? Is it the crime scene, working with the family, suspect interviews, or all of the above. There are also other parts to being a detective that you may like.
Try to ride with the local police, or any police if you can. There is always a patrol unit, prior to detectives showing up! So get your exposure there first. A&E, The First 48, is an excellent show, to see if you may like being a detective. But it’s also a little graphic and somewhat emotional. If you’re under 18, be sure to ask your parents first.
