It sounds like you want to go into the field of obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). This requires you to go to undergraduate college and medical school. During undergraduate, you will need to take courses that are required for medical schools, as well as shadow a doctor and gain clinical experience. You will eventually take the MCAT, a standardized test for medical schools, and apply to some when you're ready. If you get into a medical school, you'll spend four years learning and shadowing different fields and you will also apply to some residencies in the OB/GYN field. Then, you'll continue to learn from OB/GYN doctors before becoming a doctor yourself.
Thank you comment icon The ONLY thing I would add is that when you are picking colleges choose the ones that have "pre-med" as a concentration rather than as a major. This way you can do your pre-medical school class requirements while doing another major. When you are applying to medical school this "additional major" makes you more appealing as you have a broader scope of thinking coming into medical school (a lot of medical schools want more holistic students rather than simply 'book smart' ones). Also, it will give you a backup option in case medical school doesn't work out. Dr. Gaurav Malhotra, MD

Kryston,
After high school, you need to go to a 4 year college and get your undergraduate degree. After that, you need to go to medical school which is another 4 years. After medical school, doctors that deliver babies go through 4 more years of training called residency where they are supervised by experienced doctors.
If this sounds like too much, you may consider going to nursing school which is 2 years training after high school then becoming a nurse midwife who delivers babies under the supervision of a doctor.
Good luck!

Todd’s Answer

It doesn't matter what school you go to for your undergraduate degree. The better the school, the more likely you would be to get into the medical school of your choice I suppose. Toward the end of undergrad, you will take the MCAT exam which is kind of like the SAT you need to get into medical schools.
