Wow ! I love this idea of a profession :) Wedding planning is a tough job involving plenty of teamwork and creativity. One must have a friendly personality and try to get the best prices on florists, bakers, and venues. To become a wedding planner you must graduate high school. You do not need to go to college, but if you do, you can obtain a degree in public relations, marketing or business to help you understand the business of weddings better. Many wedding planning firms will prefer you to have a degree. There are also courses that you can take online to obtain your certification of professional wedding consultants. Once you are qualified, you can look for jobs or go solo and make your own business.

Hope this helps!

Hello Cleshawna,

I would also recommend that you find some wedding coordinators in your area that are willing to give you informational interviews about their business. Come up with a detailed list of questions before you meet with them, even virtually or over the phone is an option, about what you want to know. This can include what did you study, how did you get into wedding planning, how did you build your business and get your first clients, and how do you market. You could also ask if they will let you shadow them so you can learn more about the business. You may also ask if there is an opportunity to be employed with them as an assistant so you can learn the business even further.

Best wishes,
Emmy

We've determined that 59.3% of event planner assistants have a bachelor's degree. In terms of higher education levels, we found that 5.7% of event planner assistants have master's degrees. Even though most event planner assistants have a college degree, it's possible to become one with only a high school degree or GED
