What quality is considered the most important in a high school teacher?

I'm going to be studying music education starting this fall. The last two years I have been a part of a program at my high school that teaches students how to be teachers. We talked a lot about which traits we possessed that would make great teachers but I was wondering if there was one trait that is the most important in a teacher. #college #career #teaching #education

I think the most important trait is definitely patience. Without patience, you'll get frustrated and tired out. You have to have it in order to spend time with students and work with them slowly to understand concepts or help them when they are struggling.

I think it's the most important trait but others might tell you different. Good luck!

Hi Kassandra! As a former teacher, I think the #1 most important quality for a high school teacher to have is positivity. It's a tough job--much tougher than most people realize--and it's easy to quickly become jaded. However, teachers with a positive outlook on the job, and life in general, develop the fortitude to keep at it and become the best role models for their students.
