What are the most important classes in the physical therapist field? How many credits do I have to take?

I love physical therapy, my mother broke her leg about four months ago, I stayed with her from the beginning of the process until the end, I watch how : doctors, nurses, and even physical therapist treated my mom.
I felt in love with what they did for her.I want to know what are the most important classes in the physical therapy field because I want to have it in mind and focus well on it, and give a lot of effort on that class.
I would like to know how many classes a student in this particular field must take.

There are numerous important classes. A common PT curriculum will include classes in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, orthopedics, neurology, cardiovascular and pulmonary classes, and ethics to name a few.

Prior to PT school, I would especially focus on the sciences including biology, chemistry, physics. Math classes are also important including statistics. English and writing classes are often overlooked but also very important in order to communicate well with other professionals. Also, classes in psychology can be very beneficial.

A physical therapist must complete there undergraduate college coursework and receive an undergraduate degree. Then they enter a Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program that is 3 years long and usually includes summer semester classes. In these 3 years, you also complete a number of physical therapy clinical-internships. So, traditionally the education is 4 years + 3 years for 7 years of college total. Some schools offer a 3+3 or 6 year program in which your last year of undergraduate courses overlaps with your first year of PT school. Hope this helps!
Thank you comment icon Yes it is very helpful, Thanks! Jennifer

To become a physical therapist, you will need to complete both an undergraduate degree and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. The essential classes include anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, therapeutic exercises, and clinical assessment. The DPT program typically requires around 110-130 credits, including both coursework and clinical practice.

Your passion and experience caring for your mother will serve as a strong foundation for your studies and future career in physical therapy. Good luck with your journey!
