What kind of internships should I pursue if I am a Mathematics major? I am unsure of what I will do with my degree, so any general internships that could help are APPRECIATED

I have been struggling to find an internship or job that directly relates to my major, so I was wondering if anyone has an idea of where I should work for my first job? I would like for it to relate to my major. I am not sure what I want to do with my degree yet, but since my first year of college is over, I want to start integrating myself into the workforce and build my professional resume. Thank you in advance! #college-major #internships #mathematics #entry-level

I was a math major also and ended up in insurance. Insurance companies have a ton of data and need people who are comfortable sorting through it to figure out what is and isn't important. Especially if you have an interest in statistics, look for some kind of actuarial or product development work.

You've gotten good answers so far and my first thought was data analytics, decision sciences or statistics types of internships.

I wish you the best!

You need to decide what you would like to do in your internship. You'll find that there is a math element in pretty much any job now.

Also discuss internships not only with the math department at your school, but make inquiries in the other acedemic departments as well.
