How much education is needed to become a business owner?

I know for sure you have to know a lot, but how much? #interior #special-effects

Thank you comment icon Hi Patricia, School is not required to become a business owner. However, unless you have experience running a business I would strongly suggest taking classes to learn these skills. There are so many moving pieces that goes into running a business. Financials, marketing, meeting with product suppliers, etc. It certainly can be done without a degree but it will be much easier if you have knowledge/experience. If you’re not interested in a degree you can take certification courses which are much shorter than a degree and will teach you the aspects of running a business. Some other options would be to self taught or taking a role where you would learn these skills to apply in your own business. Wishing you the best! Jessica Miller

Hi Patricia,

Education is not required in order to become a business owner, however it is important to to gain skills in order to be able to start and maintain a business. I suggest you look for some online course in the area you wish you begin a business in, and try to speak to other business owners in that field.

Best of luck!

Hi Patricia,

Education, in its formal setting, such as college, is not required to be a business owner. However, education, in its "Street smarts" and financial terms, is very much needed. A business is only as good as the financial manager behind it. If you understand how business money works, like cash flow, balance sheets, filing business taxes, equity and others, then you can start any business you want. If this isn't your strong suit, you find someone who does know it, and become partners!

With being a business owner, my advice is find something that you are passionate about and learn how to get paid for it. This can be anything and on any topic. If you are passionate about it, then it won't feel as burdensome to work for it, especially in the first years of smaller income.

Being a business owner has its perks, but you need to be cautious of where failures happen. This is the "education" that most needs. Again, it will be in how yo manage finances and how hard you are willing to work. The term 'Hustle' is your greatest strength as a business owner.

Best of luck!

0. School is not for everyone and there are loads of business owners that didn't finish school - ie. Zuckerberg of Facebook, my dad who only went to school as high as 9th grade, Bill Gates, etc. See this article: "The most successful businessmen without degrees" https://www.thegentlemansjournal.com/20-of-the-most-successful-businessmen-without-degrees/#:~:text=The%20billionaire%20co%2Dfounder%20of,by%20Amazon%20founder%20Jeff%20Bezos.
