Why do many students not complete undergraduate degree after 4 years?

Many schools show low percentage of 4 year graduation rates. Are these percentages for BS or BA degrees? Any why does it seem to take most student longer than 4 years to finish their undergrad degree? #academic-advisor

Yolonda’s Answer

It could be because of many factors. Some students transfer. I graduated in 3 years so I wouldn't be included in that rate unless it was 4 years and under. Also, life happens, some people get full time jobs which take them longer to finish, others start families. You can do whatever you set your mind to.

Wael’s Answer

It is either because students don't take the challenge seriously and that leads to low grades and the eventual academic probation then expulsion, or they did got scared of the student dept.

Ricardo’s Answer

At the end of day, its interest....... I have seen students come and go from their degree plan. The one's that stay with the program, really enjoy the outcome and how beneficial it is. Student that don't stay, mostly from: different school opt, financial aid, locations and interest in the program ( Do I really want to study this for 4 years?)
