Titus’s Answer

If you have a degree in Public Relations you might want to start at a PR firm. Pick an agency which handles clients in the sector that interests you the most: technology, fashion, retail, etc. Most large PR firms have annual graduate programmes which you can join to gain experience in multiple sectors across several clients. Then you can narrow your focus and select the areas you enjoy most.

Once you've gained valuable experience at a PR agency, you may consider moving to an in-house role at a company. Many people find that it's good to do this after they've first had several years of experience at an agency. Agency life allows you to work with many PR professionals, in-house teams tend to be smaller and are often more specialized, therefore limiting the range of experiences on offer.

Alyssa’s Answer

Hi Samantha,

I hope all is well. Some positions that someone with a PR degree could do are the following:

📍Journalist
📍 Publicist
📍 Brand Strategist
📍 Communications Associate
📍 Social Media Coordinator/Manager
📍 Outreach & Partnerships Manager
📍 Strategic Communications Specialist/Manager

A great place to also visit is LinkedIn. In the search bar, type in Public Relations,
select Jobs, and you can see in your area what roles populate for a search in PR.

I hope this helps! I wish you well in your search.

Thank you comment icon If you have a degree in PR, you may want to look for a job at a public relations firm. Depending on your interests, you can pick a specialized firm, for example, one that specializes in tech or beauty, or you can find a more general firm so you can better find your niche. Another option is working in marketing, advertising, or finding an organization looking fo someone to handle media relations. Hanna A
