If I decide I no longer wanted to be a registered nurse, what other career options could I have with that schooling?

I fear I may change my mind in the future about being a RN if I don't enjoy what I'm doing.

Katherine’s Answer

That is not an uncommon concern; however it depends on where you are in your life and your current goals. Healthcare is not for anyone that cannot work under pressure or expects verbal or monetary rewards for doing a job. No one come to see a healthcare professional unless they or someone they know is unwell. Healthcare is not a job, it is a passion.

If you do not plan to work in healthcare before doing something else, I would recommend to complete a basic informatic diploma before launching your carrer.

Chayla’s Answer

Health Care Administration (i.e.: working on the administration of side of healthcare) would be a good alternative career option with a nursing degree. People in these fields evaluate and implement nursing policies and demonstrate policy compliance. They also ensure continuous quality improvement and optimal patient care by implementing up to date evidence-based nursing practices.

Also, Nursing Informatics Specialist roles are another alternative. These are nurses who specialize in informatics collaborate with other medical professionals like doctors and nurses to manage data, information, and knowledge to improve nursing care across settings.

Best of Luck!!
