Anna’s Answer

Hi Lakiya,

Both of these careers are exiting. When you go to college you will be able to enroll in classes related to both professions and possibly complete double major (or major /minor). You can also explore internships in both areas which will expose you to the day to day life of a detective and a lawyer. More you learn about what is involved in each of the professions will help you evaluate which one is the best choice for you. Also keep in mind that your choice doesn't need to be final, you can start with being a detective and move to a lawyer or start as a lawyer and go to detective if that is what you decide to do.
Best of luck!

Shelby’s Answer

Hi Lakiya!

I think the best job is the one that inspires you and helps keep that fire lit inside you. Take some time to research, speak to people working in these fields, see if they have volunteer opportunities or even internships. I personally think that when you find the career that's best for you, you will know. It will excite you and you will have passion to do that career for many years.
Thank you comment icon Hi Shelby: This is very good advice. Sheila Jordan

Robert’s Answer

Hi Lakiya,

A career as either a lawyer or a detective could be very interesting. If your high school offers debate or forensics clubs it might be helpful to take part in those for some background information and skills related to these jobs. If you haven't done so already I would also suggest speaking with people working in those fields to figure out what each job entails and what th e day-to-day lives of these professionals are like. I would also recommend inquiring about internships and volunteer opportunities in law and detective offices. Being around those in your chosen field(s) while the work is actually being done can help you better understand the jobs themselves and figure out which of the jobs would be more fulfilling and a better fit for you. Once you are in college I would suggest taking a wide range of classes your first two years to help you get an idea what interests you specifically about each field so you can figure out what works best for you and where you want to focus. Don't get discouraged if you can't figure it out or can't decide right away. Try to get experience and classes in both fields so you can make the best decision for you.

Good luck!

Rachit (Richi)’s Answer

Detective and a lawyer! Thats fantastic.

Did you know a lot of lawyers are forensic experts and do a lot of detective work if they are criminal lawyers? That's why I would recommend being a lawyer as it seems to be what you are interested in. It requires a lot of hard work and study, and I wish you the best in working towards and achieving your goals.
