Sheila’s Answer

Hi Marco:

Thank you for your question. Finding financial aid to attend college can become quite cumbersome but, it doesn't have to be. I'd broaden my horizon to include "all scholarships" because you never know which one you may actually get. Best of luck to you!

Sheila recommends the following next steps:

Estelle’s Answer

Fill out the financial aid paperwork for your university of course, but also apply for all of the scholarships available in your community. While the scholarship may not advertise that it gives preference to minorities, many do.

Natasha’s Answer

Hi Marco - as others have mentioned, there are many scholarships that you may be eligible for. I would recommend signing up for the scholarship application called Scholly: https://myscholly.com/

By taking five-minutes to create a profile that outlines what makes you YOU (ex, your Hispanic heritage), the application will be able to match you with scholarships based on your interests, accomplishments, and unique traits!

Best of luck and congratulations on taking this step!

Gloria’s Answer

Hi Marco,

I think that best is relative. I would recommend that you expand your horizons beyond just scholarships for Hispanics. If you want to start there, that is a great place to start. I would just recommend that you go broader. There are a lot of scholarships in a variety of categories. What do you want to do for a living? What is your anticipated major? I would recommend looking at scholarships related to the job that you want to have or aspect of your identity. Are you a national honor society member? Do you have skills in science or arts? Do you have a school in mind? Maybe that school has scholarships you could apply for.

At my employer, there are scholarships offered to family members of employees. Scholarships can be found in many places. It will take time and research.

Good luck on your search for a scholarship. All the hard work looking and applying will be worth the effort.
