Hi Marie! It is absolutely possible to become a singer!
First, you have to be heard, by as many people are willing to listen!! :) You are in a bit of an advantageous position with the pandemic in that people are searching far and wide on the internet for entertainment! You should take to social media via a YouTube channel or do original music in a Facebook Live feed or post a snippit on Instagram!
There are a few cautions that come with displaying your talents on the internet, be prepared for all kinds of feedback. Some great, some just plain mean. If you can learn how to look past the negative feedback and focus on the constructive, you will develop wonderful skills for taking your dream to the next level of a career.
Some people that love to sing have a difficult time doing it in front of an audience, and that's OK! There are "voice only" roles for movies and tv that would let you stay "hidden".
When COVID is over, consider joining a band. You will get to meet other musicians, get exposure and develop a network. Music is such a fantastic way to bring people together.
Good luck! :)

Its great to have dreams and to strive for them. If you feels strongly for it then go for it with everything you have. If you're worried you won't be successful then have a backup plan.

Hello Marie!
I say follow your dreams! If that's your dream then work hard to become a singer! I played violin for 10 years up until high school and I stopped playing once I got to college because I didn't think it would be a viable career choice for me. I deeply regret not going for Music as my major or at least joining a community orchestra. At the end of the day, it is your life and only yours. I kept letting my insecurities of not being good enough and the opinions of my friends and family get in the way of me living my life. You are the only one that can make this decision for yourself and why not try and go for it!
Even if you do not end up becoming a singer, you will at least have known you tried and you can go on with no regrets! You only miss 100% of the shot you do not take. You only have one life to live, why not try to live it to the fullest? Don't wait to pursue your passions! It is so special when you find your passion early on in life. Best of luck to you!

Hi Marie,
Great question. Like you, I have been interested in music for a very long time. Growing up I started bands, played/sang in bands and had the dream of becoming a music artist and playing big concerts for many people across the world. I took vocal lessons from a voice teacher for quite some time which was a great experience and taught me a lot about how to handle my voice.
There are many singers in the world who have become famous and sing for large crowds on a regular basis with popular music groups. So if this is your dream, to answer your question, yes; it is possible. But I also want to suggest that you do not have to become a famous singer to have a career in music/singing. If music is your passion, you can find other ways to enjoy your singing abilities and make a career out of it. Nursing homes will pay musicians to entertain their residents, restaurants hire musicians, you can become a voice teacher, you could write songs and sell them to recording artists, you could become a studio vocalist, you could start a band and play at festivals and events.
One other thing you might consider if you have career aspirations aside from singing is to sing and play music on the side of whatever full time job you take for an additional income and a way to pursue your singing passion. To share a bit about myself, I work for our church as a music leader and sing Christian Contemporary Music with our band every Sunday. The neat part about this is I can do it in addition to my full time job and it works out great!
Keep your mind open to all of the different opportunities to make money in the music world and remember, you don't have to make it as a world famous singer to pursue a career in music and you can do it as a side job. Best of luck!

HI Marie, Yes you can be a singer! Not only can you be a singer, however there are so many ways to be fulfill your dreams of being an artist. Definitely keep an open mind, however also focus on what kind of singer you want to be. For example-- what kind of music do you like to sing? Do you want to write your own songs? Do you want to be a lead singer in a band or a solo artist? Once you figure out what kind of singer you want to be, definitely practice to get better (maybe take singing lessons if you wish) and start singing to your family, friends, local places that have a stage, and social media (although please see Keri's post about cautions on social media) Soon your audience will start to grow!
