Estelle’s Answer

Psychiatrists have fairly predictable schedules which is nice in the field of medicine. Most psychiatrists have office hours from about 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Most take at least one afternoon off a week. They usually schedule patients every half hour (follow ups and medication check ups) to one hour for more in depth counseling. Some do take call for emergency rooms or psychiatric hospitals, but the call is scheduled as well. Psychiatry can be emotionally draining, but they can find ways to arrange their schedules for their own leisure activities to prevent burn out.
