Very good question. Suggestions/tips below:
Where to look for scholarships?
• Check with colleges you are considering...check before applying to see what may be available to you. Look in the financial aid area for possible scholarships.
• Check with your guidance counselor, library, or (if a member of a religious community, check with them)
• Scholarships can be merit-based or need-based
• Apply early – scholarships have application deadlines. May have to reapply each year.
• Apply for scholarships that fit your interests
You will/may need?
• Prepare an essay – scholarships will indicate as part of the application if an essay is need, the length and what the subject matter should be.
• Obtain letters of recommendations (teachers, coaches, family friends)
• School transcript
It is never to early to start doing research
