Hi Sammy! I hope to be a pediatrician as well! I graduated college with a major in Psychology and I've dreamt of being a pediatrician since high school. I think it's a valuable field and if you love working with kids that's only going to add to your goals. I love working with kids too, sometimes however seeing a child's illness can be rough; however, this experience of mine did inspire me to pursue the path of being a pediatrician and help children! You still have much time before you fully decide, but in college you take courses that prepare you for medical school, then you go to medical school for four years, and then do a residency in Pediatrics. It takes about 8 years + residency years to become a pediatrician after high school. I think for now do well in school and get involved with science if you can, such as in your class or any clubs you may have at school because it is a must for medicine. If you do struggle however, don't worry because I use to struggle in science and math a lot but with practice and dedication I became better and even ended up tutoring for it. I wish you the best!
Thank you Yasemin for your info! It gave me some thoughts while reading it! Thank you!!!!!!!
Sammy
You're very welcome!

Hi Sammy, while I am not a pediatrician, I do have family members who are. I can tell you it's a long journey but is very rewarding in every aspect if you love working with kids.
The American Academy of Pediatrics has a great website on "Pediatrics as a Profession": https://www.aap.org/en-us/professional-resources/Pediatrics-as-a-Profession/Pages/Pediatrics-as-a-Profession.aspx
I encourage you to get involved and shadow a local pediatrician in your community so you have a better idea on the day to day and if this is something you want to pursue.
