For government jobs the good news is that all salaries are listed by rank or pay grade. An Air Force nurse who commissions as an officer may start as an O1 (Second Lieutenant) which right receives a monthly basic pay salary starting at $3,287 per month, with raises up to $4,136 per month once they have served for over 3 years.

This article, while older, has some great details about nursing in the Air Force. http://www.depts.ttu.edu/afrotc/AFROTC_Nursing_Information.pdf

For civilian jobs a great resource for researching salary ranges is Glassdoor.com. How much an individual makes is dependent on a lot of different factors like their training, years of experience, areas of expertise, what organization they work for, what responsibilities they have beyond their day-to-day job, and more. A salary range on Glassdoor can be refined by types of speciality, geography, and other filters. It will give you a better idea about salaries than any one person’s salary can. One more note: money is important but don’t ever pursue a job based on salary alone. Do it because you’re passionate about it and it aligns with your skills.
