Estelle’s Answer

In general, the L&D nurses help women during labor, and they also prepare the patients for cesarean sections. Usually other doctors or specially trained scrub technicians assist the obstetrician in performing the actual cesarean section. This may vary in hospitals depending on the number of staff members and number of patients. In smaller hospitals, sometimes staff members need to cross train and learn to assist the surgeon.

Lynsey’s Answer

Depends on the organization! I’ve worked places with scrub techs but also places where the RN is in as circulating or scrub nurse.
