What personality types are best for a pediatrician to have?
I am typically a bubbly and happy person, However I can be serious and straight to the point if need be. I am logical and can reason with difficult people. I can also be a comforting person if the situation calls for one. #doctor #pediatrician #medical

Ashley, it sounds like you have a great personality for being a pediatrician. In medical school, you will have the opportunity to explore different specialties during 3rd and 4th year. This will be a great time to see the physicians that have chosen pediatrics and see the fit.
Good luck!

Hi Ashley! It's great that you can be energetic when needed and serious as well because these two traits will help in medical school and as a physician when treating your patients. For kids, I think the doctor's office can always be scary, I remember from my own experiences but my pediatrician was very kind and heartwarming and made the visit much easier for us all. I think for pediatrics it is important to be energetic, compassionate and caring (with all medicine even), however being serious and diligent as well as communicating effectively will help the parents and ease their worries as well. It seems like you have some good traits for this speciality, keep working hard and hopefully one day you'll be able to call yourself Dr.!
I wish you the best!

Hi Ashley,
Those sound like great personality traits to have. It is also important to be able to communicate well. This means talking to the parents and explaining to them what the problem is and how you want to treat it. For example, in a child that is overweight, it is a tough conversation to have but you will want to be stern and compassionate while talking to the parents. Give examples of food choices that are good for the child, and give lots of options on how to combat obesity with exercise, etc.
Best of luck !
