Hi Esme,
It is good to hear you like to make people safe and comfortable these are some of the characteristics you need in order to become a nurse. Other characteristics you need to become a nurse is you need to have compassion by being dedicated to make sure you will give the best care possible to people under your care by making sure they recover from their illness well. You also have to be able to serve as an advocate to the person you are caring for making sure they are getting the best care they need possible by making sure they have good access to care by making sure they have a doctor they can regularly see and receive needed medications. When you become a nurse you always have to keep in mind you want to be the best nurse possible being compassionate and advocate for people under your care because when you achieve this position you have to use your tools as a nurse to do good and not cause harm. Hope this helps.
-Thank you,
Aaron

Hi Esme,
I think after all of the training and experience, one of the character trait I use is ability to be empathetic. Being inquisitive and persistent. I find because I started out with a good understanding of what empathy means, and being able to be empathetic even when you're at the end of your rope, that will get you through most of your worst days. Being inquisitive and persistent gets you what you want to get the patients what they need. And, ultimately, that's why we do the job. Provide best care of people at their most vulnerable.

I also think you have to be willing to always learn and be able to always ask questions. No nurse knows everything. We all help each other and grow based on what we learn from our education, experiences, and advice from other nurses.
Compassion is another great trait to have in this field. Taking care of people is a hard job but you have to understand how they must be feeling as well.
I also do a lot of educating, so being able to answer questions. Having patience with your patients is important because not everyone learns the same way.
