What steps do you need to take to become a Detective
I am in 8th grade. I am taking a class called career and tech. My teacher said that I get to choose 3 jobs I am interested in and I decided to choose a Detective. I thought that it would be an interesting to career to learn about. I hope you respond. #detective #career #school

In general, to become a detective you have to:
Attend and complete police academy training (all detectives must be law enforcement officers)
Fulfill educational requirements (depends on your state and the law enforcement agency you want to work for)
Gain work experience (up to 5 years of law enforcement experience may be required to qualify to apply as a detective)
Complete licensing requirements
Apply for advancements and open positions

Excellent communication skills, planning and organizing , problem-solving skills and the ability to keep calm in challenging situations.
The only way to become a police detective is to work as a police officer, pass a test, and earn promotion to detective through the department. If you want to pursue a career as a detective without going through the police academy and working as an officer first, you can become a private investigator,
