Can you work at an aquarium but still be working at the zoo?
I'm in 8th grade. I have a class called career and technology. I like animals and that's why I thought a zookeeper would be a good job for me when I get older. My teacher is having the class ask questions about the careers we would like when we got older. #career #career-choice #higher-education #career-development #higher-education ( sorry if this question is confusing )

There are a number of careers that will allow you to pursue your interest in working with animals. Zoos and aquariums are two such options. Careers in the world of veterinary sciences are also options, these include positions such as a veterinarian or veterinary assistant. Furthermore wildlife management is another option. Since you still have a number of years to sort out your options, I suggest volunteering in different settings of interest to learn more about what the career options would be like and what is of most interest to you. Good luck and pursue your career dreams!

Syndee, It's enough for you to know that you like working with animals at this point. I would think that programs in animal science would be a great place for you to start and you can then branch out from there, into veterinary or zoology, or marine biology or animal training, animal rescue services, or so many other areas and things that may be professions down the road that we haven't even thought about yet. When you get into high school, I'd suggest you do voluntary, shadow days or paid work at a zoo, aquarium, vet office, animal rescue organizations in your community and see where your interests go from there. Good luck!

That's great, I think a career working with animals is very rewarding. I think your first effort should be as a volunteer someplace like a zoo, I am sure if you look online you will find a place to work as a volunteer. If you stay with one company or zoo long enough as a volunteer, they may offer you a job or offer to pay for you to go to school to be a Veterinarian!
Myself, I think if I had ever done something like what you are thinking of doing, it might have led me to become a Park Ranger.
