Hi Chloye,
I worked as a NA (nursing assistant) while attending nursing school. The work wasn't difficult. The experience was good because it helped me associate what I was learning in school with the "real world environment". Being a CNA will allow you to do a number of things like working in physician offices, working in hospitals, and a number of other medical environments. Going to school to become a CNA will provide you with phlebotomy skills, basic assessment skills, and basic care to patients. You'll learn medical terminology and basic science behind health care. It can take from 12-18 months of training depending on the program. It may require some non-science academic studies. Most of the time the content taught is not transferable to a nursing program; but does help you understand nursing school content.
Hope this information helps.
I hope you success in what ever your endeavors are.

Hello Chloye,
This is Sue and I am a retired RN. I worked as a CNA prior to entering nursing school.
Any schooling can be difficult! It all depends on the student's drive and determination to study.
However, the course content to become a CNA is not difficult. I believe the nearest school to you is Hawkeye Community College.
Here is the weblink for the CNA course: https://www.hawkeyecollege.edu/business-community/training/healthcare/cna
A CNA provides direct patient care activities under the supervision of the RN. You really get to know your patients and provide compassionate care.
I recommend that you review your local college's website for CNA instruction and give them a call. They may be able to assist you with financial aid if you have need.
Hoping this answers your question!
Best,
Sue
