What type of schools are best for Physical Therapy?

#physicaltherapy

Thank you comment icon Hey I am a student at Rockhurst University, and we have a great physical therapy program. It is a small private school in Kansas City. I would look for smaller schools, in order to get better 1 on 1 help/care from professors! Parker

The best school for PT is the one you get in to, balanced with the overall costs! Check the Bureau of Labor and Statistics or UpDoc Media to get an idea of salary ranges for PT, as that will help you make a decision as to how much debt you wish to take on in pursuit of the degree. I typically recommend public universities over private due to cost. All schools must be accredited by CAPTE to meet the same standards, so while they may not be equal, you will be prepared for the board examination.

Sheila’s Answer

Hi Dexter:

To become a physical therapist, students must first master areas of science such as biomechanics, neuroscience, exercise physiology and anatomy. These are the top schools to train physical therapists at the doctorate level (DPT). Each school's score reflects its average rating on a scale from 1 (marginal) to 5 (outstanding), based on a survey of academics at peer institutions.

BEST SCHOOLS FOR PHYSICAL THERAPY
• University of Delaware (Newark, DE)
• University of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh, PA)
• Washington University in St. Louis (St. Louis, MO)
• Northwestern University (Chicago, IL)
• University of Iowa (Iowa City, IA)
• University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA)

Best of luck to you!

Emma’s Answer

Hi Dexter,

The best schools for Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs should have accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and a strong reputation. Consider factors like location, curriculum, clinical opportunities, cost, and student support services when evaluating programs. Facilities, resources, and access to a diverse range of clinical settings are also important. Smaller class sizes can provide personalized attention, and a robust alumni network can offer valuable connections. Ultimately, the ideal DPT program is one that aligns with your goals, preferences, and needs, ensuring a well-rounded education and preparation for your physical therapy career.
