Yasemin’s Answer

Hi Cory! The previous response does a great job with the main aspects of becoming a doctor. I would also add that while doing a bachelor's make sure to get experience in extracurriculars; for example volunteering non clinical and clinical (in a hospital for clinical and a way to make a difference for non clinical that interests you, like maybe if you like to tutor kids or volunteer in a soup kitchen), in addition to volunteering I would also recommend shadowing a physician and research experience. Shadowing is important as it will help you in getting more experience in the daily life of an actual physician and all medical schools don't require research but it can definitely keep give you a competitive edge. Extracurriculars are definitely important and definitely something to do for medical school because they will be regarded heavily when the admissions committee is reviewing your application for admittance.

As a last note check out AAMC.org, it is the official site for students interested in the medical field as well as the site where you sign up for the MCAT exam and apply to medical school!

I wish you the best!
