There are lots of different jobs in the medical field that all have different programs and prerequisite requirements for said programs. But since you specifically mentioned pre-med I’ll give you the details on that.
Medical schools require a bachelors degree, it doesn’t matter what the degree is so long as you complete all of the pre-requisites for medical school, but the most common pre-med degree is biology because the degree requirements and prerequisites overlap. The most common medical school prerequisites are:
Biology- 2 semesters of biology -
-Some schools may require more or may require specific classes but this is very variable
-Biology classes that are very important for the MCAT are cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and genetics
Chemistry - 2 semesters and a lab of general chemistry, 2 semesters and a lab of organic chemistry
Physics - 2 semesters and labs of general physics
Math - 2 semesters of math - often specifically statistics and calculus I
English - critical thinking and writing classes may be required by some schools
Some schools also require psychology/sociology courses as well.
There is a lot more to be a successful applicant to medical school than just prerequisites. You will also need to participate in research, do both clinical and non-clinical volunteering, shadow at least one physician, and have leadership roles.
Medicine is an excellent career choice, just make sure you do the research and put in the work to be successful!

In college, you should make sure to take lots of science classes as they are pre-reqs for medical school! If you have other interests, take classes related to those too! Medical schools look for the things that you are passionate about, so be sure to get involved with things you enjoy while taking the science classes you need to reach your goals.
