Like any job, your salary depends on where you are and how hard you work. General surgeons make between $200,000-$400,000 per year starting salary. Remember that specialists make more than general surgeons. Many people do not realize that there are lots of different surgical specialties. For example, there are orthopedic surgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons, urologic surgeons, plastic surgeons, and ear/nose/throat specialists. In general, the higher the training, the higher the income.
Because surgeons deal with many emergencies, they can also make additional income providing emergency call at hospitals.

Olivia’s Answer

Hi Ashton,

I am currently a pharmacy student and I wanted to give you some information on what type of salary pharmacists earn. In order to be a pharmacist you have to graduate from a certified pharmacy program which is typically 4 years. You have to complete your pre-pharmacy degree beforehand or complete a undergraduate degree (2-4 years as well before pharmacy school). Once you graduate from pharmacy school you will be a doctor of pharmacy with a PharmD degree. The average salary is $114,000 to $135,000 but it does depend on what type of pharmacy you practice. You can work in a retail pharmacy such as a CVS or Walgreens. You can work in a nuclear pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, ambulatory care setting, and so much more! If pharmacy is something that interest you, then please feel free to ask me more questions!

I hope this helps,
Olivia
