It depends a lot on what kind of work or project you might be working on. Some biochemists might spend all day in the office, while others might be in a lab most of the time. The hours really depend on the person and the project. Of course, it is said that if you find something you love to do, you'll never work a day in your life!
Of course even those who work at a computer full time need information for their work, so it all has to begin with biochemists at a lab bench somewhere. The work may be dealing with organisms in a petri dish, whole animals, or even people. Then it's a matter of getting down to the molecule or molecules of interest. Usually this means using reagents or instruments that let the person know what is going on. The questions might be what its shape is, how tightly it sticks to another molecule, what its role in a cell or organism is. It all depends on the question being asked. Hope this helps!
