How many years does it take to be a dentist?

I am a 12th grader and would love to be a good dentist or assistant, but I need help determining which colleges would be a good fit.

Gisselle’s Answer

You will need to do 4 years at a university/college to get your bachelors then apply to dental school which will be another 4 years since a dentist is a doctor the years are a bit longer, but totally worth it at the end!!

Marlene’s Answer

A Bachelors' degree must be obtained before applying to dental school. Remember that a dentist is a doctor, so dental school is 4 years in addition to the 4 years it takes to earn a Bachelors' degree. All in all, it takes a minimum of 8 years combined of undergraduate and professional school to become a dentist.
