Because your question is so general, my best suggestion for you: go to college, get a degree and pursue your photography in addition to whatever career you choose. Making a living in photography, or any of the arts, is very difficult. It's not impossible, but it is very hard. That way you can have income while you build your photo business.

I-stock photo and companies like that will pay you for your photos. Salary is usually based on commission only (if they use your photos). Good luck!

I've been licensing my images as stock photos directly and through agencies worldwide for about 35 years. I agree with John Molina that it is practically impossible to earn a living as a stock photographer due to changes in the industry in the last decade. While stock photography once had the potential for photographers to make a very comfortable living licensing to magazines, text book and calendar publishers, etc., when cameras went from film to digital and images could be distributed online, the business collapsed with millions of images competing for considerably lower fees. Macro-stock agencies that license for a few dollars per use replaced agencies that licensed for up to hundreds of dollars per use. If you try to distribute your work through these agencies, such as i-stock, you will just be adding to the deterioration of the market. And I might add that nature photos are one of the most competitive subjects. Everything in nature has already been photographed dozens of times or more. Nevertheless, photography is a very satisfying pastime that you should fully enjoy as a hobby.
