Ryan’s Answer

If you decide to join the Navy you will be going to Great Lakes Chicago. If you can time it right try and go in the summer months because it is very cold there. Once winter hits you get cold frigid air and snow rolling in from the lake. Nothing worse than marching in three feet of snow. All day long.
Thank you comment icon Hi Ryan, what about other branches of the military? Alexandra Carpenter, Admin

Michael’s Answer

If you decide to go into the United States Marine Corps you have two options; Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego or Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. These two locations are based on which side of the Mississippi river you reside. The east and west are very similar in training but they have their own obstacles. The east in the summer time is very humid and most of the time training is performed outdoors. Drinking lots of water to prevent becoming a heat casualty is something to consider. On the west there is lots of mountainous terrian that recruits have to train on. It is physically demanding to over come this terrain but not impossible. On the east weather is unpredictable as some days it may rain or even hail. The west is usually the same consistent weather year round. Both east and west provide the recruit with the knowledge, leadership, and physical requirements to become a United States Marine.
