Is there any jobs that would allow you to teach children to swim ?
I am in high school . I like to swim and I like teaching others how to swim . I am worried about the cost though . Would I have to go to college for this ? #swimming

I was previously a swim instructor. You do not need to go to college for this, but you do need to be certified. You can either pay for the courses and tests to become certified on your own or you can find an employer willing to hire you uncertified and they will then pay the certification process for you. You must pass a number of tests, written and demonstrating that you have the skills needed, in order to become certified. You will also need to become certified in CPR and First Aid. If you are already certified in those it can help you with getting a job when you are not certified as a swim instructor. Once certified, you can either teach swim lessons through an organization or on your own if you have access to a pool.

Get a certificate and work at a pool, it’s very simple and you can learn a lot about how to become a leader in the pool space and teach more classes

Hello Ja'Taya,
I taught swimming to children years ago through my city's recreation department. So you may look at your city's website for types of possible jobs or go to a city's recreation center and ask someone there if they have a city run swim program. The YMCA also has swim programs that you could look into.
Good luck! I enjoyed by time teaching swimming and being a life guard.

I was a lifeguard for a few years after high school and during my time there I taught many classes ranging from 8-17 year olds. I even taught some adults. It's a nice experience learning how to interact with kids, what types of language to sue, learning to adapt and improvise, and with such a hard skill like swimming, not everyone will get it right away.
Not saying you have to be a lifeguard, but maybe go to your local pool or rec center and put up a flyer offering private lessons. Parents came up to me asking if I taught private lessons and I only offered one private lesson to young siblings. You do have to be a good swimmer obviously but you must also be prepared in case there may be an accident where one may be drowning. I definitely recommend learning some life-saving swimming techniques.
