Do I get to pick what type of animals I would like to work with?
My name is Leelah and I love animals. I am currently in the 11th grade. I have been passionate about animals my whole life and should just like to learn more about the job and what comes with being a veterinarian. #veterinarian

Veterinarians do choose what types of animals they treat. For example, I see companion animals and exotic pets. Most small animal veterinarians choose to see only companion animals so this means we see patients from quite a distance. Veterinarians can choose to see equines only, large animals as a whole, cattle only, food animals or even a very specific subset like exotic fish.

Hi Leelah,
Veterinarians serve the healthcare needs of animals, including small animals, livestock, avian, and zoo and laboratory animals. Commonly called "vets," small animal veterinarians do most of their work in private clinic settings. Here, they treat companion animals—pets—like dogs, cats, and birds.
