Hi Mykah, please let me answer the second part of your question; regarding help with building a computer. In my town there is a non-profit organization (and there probably is near you too...start Googling) that receives second hand donated computers, restores them and sells them inexpensively to lower income folks. Here's the part where you could come in. If a person volunteers there for I think a month or so they will teach him/her how to repair or build a computer...and then let you keep a computer you or someone else has fixed. If there is something like this in your area (search for; donate computers near me, or maybe computer refurbishing, free computers, earn a computer...things like that) then by all means check them out.
I hope this is of some help and that someone can address your other point.
Good luck...the world needs more high school graduates who want to work on computers!!!!

Hi There! First, what a sweet thing to inquire on behalf of your son. Aside from the advice above, I'd also recommend finding a program that teaches students of his age skills that will help him once he finishes his degree. If he can take a computer programming course or a public speaking or sales course that would really help when he starts applying for jobs. I'm not sure where you're located, but you should be able to search for free programs that helps students. Good luck!
