How much will college tuition range from for in-state students

Thank you comment icon It differs in every state; sometimes the cost is the same and sometimes it's drastically different. Where I'm from the difference is about $12,000 less to go to school in state. There are also a lot of programs and aids offered to students early on in the school careers. I'd say just check the websites of your top choices and compare! Kennedee
Thank you comment icon In addition to checking the college websites you can also reach out to the financial advisors at the college who might also be able to provide some information on financial aid or scholarships that you might want to look into. Good Luck! Josephine Tallarico

Hi Elaxus,

The in-state tuition ranges are from $8,934 to $13,264 for most universities in Tennessee. The schools within this range are: University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Tennessee Tech University, Tennessee State University and University of Memphis. Private schools (i.e. Vanderbilt University) have higher tuition ranges ($52,070), so please keep in mind.

Average Cost of College by State The average cost of public colleges in the United States is $9,970 for in-state tuition and $25,620 for out-of-state tuition, not including room and board. According to the data, New Hampshire has the highest in-state tuition of $16,070, which is around $3,500 more than South Dakota's out-of-state tuition, $12,480. One other thing to remember as you look at a college is the distinct difference between a state school and a private school. Only state-funded schools make a difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition. A private school charges the same tuition whether you're a resident of the state where the school is located or not. Also, for in-state students, there is usually a considerable difference in tuition costs from an out-of-state student, but room and board costs are the same.
