What summer course should i enroll in?

Hello. I have just recently graduated from high school and am planning to attend college in the fall. I will be taking a summer class at a local community college and I was wondering which class should I sign up for. I was thinking about signing up for chemistry intro. Is this hard. I took general Chem in high school is it kind of like that? I am only taking general education classes here. What class do you recommend taking during the summer? Thanks to anyone who answers. #college #education #chemistry

Hi Darrian,

Generally, taking a chemistry intro course in college very often translates to the same general chemistry course you might've taken in high school. I'd recommend reaching out to the professor of the course to see if you can get the current syllabus and determine if the course might be right for you!

Personally, once I realized the major I was planning to take at my university, I used my summers to take classes in general education courses. For example, I studied chemical engineering in college, which required 2 quarters of physics. I had taken physics in high school, and so I ended up taking physics at the local community college over the summer to free up time during my school year for other new courses.

Though it's really common, I wouldn't recommend to take community college classes in other courses that you might want to explore further for breadth of knowledge -- for example, literature or history classes (if you're studying STEM). College is definitely a time to explore and figure out what you're passionate about, so you never know what might pique your interests if you devote the right time to it and expose yourself to the best professors at your university.

That depends on what you are majoring in college. Look up your curriculum and try to take some of these courses to get a head start with your college career.

Darrian,

Many find the Intro to Chemistry classes begin about the where middle of high chemistry classes are so you should fit into the intro class rather well.

Expect that the College class will run at a faster pace to be prepared to spend a fair amount of time outside of class...
