Honestly, I don't think any of the great doctors would ever call themselves great. Of course, one's medical acumen and the lives they've touched can put them among one of the best or greats by their patient lot or staff or institutions. But, medicine in itself is an ever-learning and ever-evolving field of science. Every doctor, with the knowledge of the fact that they can always improve, always do better than what they're doing today to help their patients, would probably not say that. Nevertheless, there's no harm in anyone claiming to be one. It probably means they're very confident of their skill-sets and achievements. Still, the best thing to find out would be to look at their track record and humanity, and nothing else.

Rahul’s Answer
Would not like to assess my capabilities as a doctor, and leave it to patients to speak about me. Believe that assessing oneself on a daily basis is extremely important for one's own growth. The lingering question remains whether I have been able to grow beyond the construct of the system and influence my patient's life. Have I been able to achieve the aademic goals that I set out to achieve. Have I been able to understand and respect my ambition. The biggest challenge has been to carry out an act pretending not to understand politically oriented motives of personaities and also tp not let one's reliance on academics to make you regress (into a child like contraption). The challenges of being the sole voice of reason are many. And there are no direct and simple answers.
