Kathleen’s Answer

You may want to look online at job opportunities of a seed company you are interested as most companies will outline job requirements or various college majors they look for when hiring.

Rebecca’s Answer

Selling seed may require some loose understanding of agricultural issues and laws, and a business oriented degree in agriculture is a good place to start, since there are many regulations now around seeds (yes, seeds!). If you want to sell seed, I would recommend some courses in business and some in plant science, especially looking at GMO foods and seeds that are sold through corporations with proprietary rights. There are also pending lawsuits around seeds . . . it is getting to be a somewhat complicated world, and depending who you work for, you may be on the side of greedy multi-national corporations. (Boo.) However, you need to figure out what path you want to take, what interests you in selling seed, and do a little research.
