There are many options. You can be a writer, an editor, an on-camera personality, a behind-the-camera operator, a radio personality, radio producer ... many opportunities. Figure out what your passion is. Is it writing? Writing what? Sports? Politics? Human interest? Find out your passion and follow it. Within each of the opportunities I mentioned lies various subsets of possibilities. Get as much practice and repetition as you can in the field that holds your passion.

There are so many opportunities through journalism. Becoming a blogger, food writer, novelist, playwright, sports reporter, editor, public relations professional are just a few of the job titles that can fall under a journalist's career path. I think the best way to discover what type of journalist you'd like to be is by doing as much reading and writing as you can so you may discover what it is that you are most passionate about. Because when you are passionate about what you write about, you become that much greater of a journalist!

Job opportunities in this profession had been steadily diminishing in the past decade – and then the pandemic came along and permanently wiped out thousands of additional journalist jobs.
Also, compared to most other types of white-collar professionals, journalists are poorly paid.
