I recommend staying with simple tools to get started in order to create a basic prototype of your idea. A couple of tools are:
Scratch - https://scratch.mit.edu
GameSalad - https://gamesalad.com
Once you have created the prototype and get feedback for your idea, then you can looks at more advanced game platforms to build your game. These platforms will allow you to create games that look more professional and will run across many types of devices. The top two I recommend are:
Unity: https://unity.com
UnReal: https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/
With these tools there are tutorials, videos and example games to help you get started in creating a fun game to play. The software you choose should reflect the devices that you are building the game for. Also I definitely recommend redesigning an existing demo game in order to allow you to learn from a game you can actually play.
