In Georgia, you have to be at least 14 years old to work. It is the same in NY, where I am from, and I started working at 14.

You can have a job right now. Look around and find something somebody needs but nobody's doing it. Maybe it's mowing a neighbor's lawn or shoveling snow. Maybe it's helping a neighbor go to the store. There's opportunities if you look for them, just keep your eyes open.
I think I've had jobs since I was 8 years old. They started out simple - like helping my parents with projects around the house. Where I grew up, when you were 13 you could de-tassel corn and I did that in the summers. When I got older, I worked in restaurants clearing tables as a bus-girl. When you get older, the jobs become more formal, but there's plenty of opporunities

Rachelle’s Answer
Hello. My name is Rachelle. When I was younger, my first job was a cashier at a pharmacy. I was sixteen years old. Each state has different laws on when you can start working but there are many jobs you can do as a kid. First I would check with your parent, guardian or teacher on what the laws are in your state. Sometimes, children do jobs such as raking leaves, lemonade stands, or dog walking in their community to earn some extra money. You can also consider volunteering which can also give you ideas on what kind of job you would be intersted in doing. Good luck!

According to the law, you need to be at least 14 to work in Georgia; however, that does not mean that you are not able to work right now. There are jobs at home that your parents would love to have you assist with - washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen, folding and putting up clothes, to name a few. Helping at home and taking pride in what you do helps to build character and skills that will make you a valuable employee when your get your first job away from home.
